Article: The Wild Should Target John Gibson As A Stopgap Goalie

I doubt Gibson is going anywhere not that Quinville is their coach.

And if the Wild decide to trade someone to get him that would be terrible.  Gibson is good but not any better than Gus.

Roll with Gus as a 1 and Wallstedt as a 2 for the start of the season.  If Wallstedt plays well in his starts play him more.  If he is terrible play Gus more.  It really isn't the need for the Wild to address.  They have Halavji in Iowa, so if Wallstedt faulters or Gus is out played for the season you have a backup.  After Halavji you have Wuzuke.  The wild are set at Goalie for decade.

Chase Wutzke was a shot in the dark 5th rounder. He may never be NHL level goalie depth, but there's a chance he may develop. I do think they could survive with Hlavaj and Wallstedt backing up Gus. I don't think they need an expensive backup like Gibson.

We also have Riley Mercer in the system. No idea who will rise to the occasion but having several goalies increases our chances that at least one of them will hit. I have a good feeling about Hlavaj.

You can always pick up a decent economy backup.

Speaking of brutal ideas, get a load of this crap from some bonehead in Utah. They suggest we trade Rossi for their underperforming player nobody's ever heard of. 😵‍💫

There, fixed it.

Should the Wild trade Rossi, the return is not going to be defense.  They're not trading Spurgeon.  Ducks would need to eat a bunch of salary for him to be traded anywhere.   This is not realistic.

Plus that Utah article...what a joke.  Rossi for Maccelli, a prospect, and a first would be more in line with his value IMO.  Even though the Wild could use a 1st, there's still no way I move Rossi for that return.
