I had the same thought when the playoffs started.  It was definitely the easiest path to the conference finals.

Realistically though...if Adin Hill hadn't played terribly (i think he gets exposed next round) and Gus had played normally...the Wild would have likely been swept or a gentlemen's sweep.

Not that they didn't play well considering the roster but lets be honest.  A playoff team that has both Freddy Gaudreau and Marcus Johansson in their top 6 isn't a serious contender. (and they both were in game 1)

I still don't understand why Hynes didn't go

Boldy, Rossi, Foligno had developed nice chemistry down the stretch it would have been fun to see it in the post-season.

I think the number one priority for the Wild this offseason is to extend Brazeau for five years with a no movement clause.  Maybe six.  He is a glue guy and we need to have so many glue guys that the team becomes an undefeatable crusty ball.

Until the Wild find another few speedy and offensively effective players (specifically blueliners), there is going to be a ceiling the team can achieve.  Vegas found new people to win the later games in the series.  The Wild relied solely on 3-4 successes until Vegas figured them out.

They set a record in all major sports . Making playoffs 8 out of 10 years and not getting past 1st round. Moral Victory! Haha.  Billy can brag about that. He signed a coach that got out coached. Maybe the coaches history of not getting out of 1st round after around 10  attempts with 3 teams should have been a red flag. Looking at all the coaches with accomplishments that are looking for a job and the wild have John . John I got out coached again Hynes.  Oh but this year they tried unlike seasons past of giving up is another morale victory Billy. 10 years to start trying. Ridiculous. 
    I was impressed with the effort this year but that’s what it always should be. They might have got out of this round if the gm had hired the right coach and not wasted assets on braz and Gus instead of getting a center.  Nico sturm , Sam steel . They were affordable and better than Fred. So the argument we didn’t have money is bs. They could have gone with a different center for two 2 nd round assets! 
    John Hynes lost this series with his non adjustments. You have last change and you keep putting kappy against Eichel line . Kappy is gassed and you put him out with Fred . You stick an offensively talented player on 4 th line so Fred can glide around avoiding contact. Ridiculous. Kids in press box so nyquist can make a fool of Billy.  To think when you started this series Fred was a 2 nd line center. Ridiculous!  When they put someone else in Fred’s spot no matter on what line, it automatically was better.  5 forwards on pp after you’ve already been exposed. Ridiculous. Merrill over Zeev. Ridiculous. 
    Even with better players  ( maybe) next year John and Billy’s ego will get out coached. So now we wait for John’s contract to come up so maybe Billy will be smart enough to get a coach that can win rounds not just reg season games . The other issue is singing Judds praises for his prospects that aren’t here or doing crap. Great they got Zeev what happend  to all his other defenders we were told was the future. Lambos should be here or Judd  just isn’t as good as the homers think.  Judds claim to fame is Vancouver and that’s a dumpster fire. Lastly Billy’s contract negotiations going into the summer should scare everyone. How many more Trenins will he acquire this summer?  For the love of god please kappy run away from this clown show so fans of him can see him make a run for the cup . It ain’t happening here any time soon with Craig , bill , Judd and john.
