Article: Vegas Built the Expansion Franchise Minnesota Always Wanted

I don't have a lot of disdain for our competitors, but VGK does stand out for me.  First, we coughed up Alex Tuch during the expansion draft.  Then in their first 8 seasons, they make it to the final dance twice, winning just 2 years ago.  Finally, back in 2021 the Wild were trying to swing Jack Eichel, but the new reports at the time kept indicating he wouldn't share detailed medical reports (or perhaps the media excuse why GMBG walked away after being concerned about cap hits).  With Eichel a few months later taking no time to sign with VGK.  And I guess they pulled another TB salary cap deferment with magically healthy for playoffs expensive players.

Then I watch how it seems the NHL and Bettman in particular appear to have the same level of disdain for The State of Hockey.

Being able to eliminate Vegas first round might bring some solace.

Because there were MANY more advantageous ways for Vegas to acquire talent right away. (And they made a mockery of LTIR)

That's in the article, fwiw

I'm not quite understanding how Vegas was gifted a team. Each team chose which players to expose to the expansion draft and Vegas made some sly deals with other teams. As far as the LTIR situation if more teams took advantage of it the league may take a look at closing the loophole. Vegas is just taking advantage of what's there. Nobody else seems to have the balls to do it. Billy could have done it with Kaprizov this year I believe.  Vegas is not afraid to trade anybody for a player they want. They are always swinging for the fences.

I don't think Eichel had any intentions of ever landing here. Vegas has  one thing going for it that we don't and may never have. Players want to play there.

Vegas wasnt necessarily gifted a stanley cup but the expansion draft rules were changed drastically to help them acquire more poker chips to deal  from a stronger position than previous drafts . they were also exempt from the Seattle draft
