Article: Where Is Minnesota Scoring From? And Will It Work In the Playoffs?

Since 2 Johansson goals were highlighted in this article, I'm going to do the math on something that has been mentioned before, but not fully investigated, which is the shocking difference in his scoring between times where Nyquist is on the team and when he is not.

I'm willing to concede that this might be purely coincidence since they typically are not even on a line together, but let's see the results.

Johansson without Nyquist on the Wild roster(combined 3 seasons):

22 goals, 41 assists, 63 points, in 165 games, so roughly 11 goals, 20.5 assists, and 30.5 points per 82 game season.

*****************

Johansson with Nyquist on the Wild roster(combined 2 seasons):

12 goals, 21 assists, 33 points, in 41 games, so roughly 24 goals, 42 assists and 66 points per 82 game season.

Nyquist was injured and didn't play for the Wild for most of the initial stretch of games included here, but this season has seen a substantial shift for Johansson as well.  He played 51 games with 19 points before Nyquist was added, and Johansson has 21 games with 15 points since the Nyquist acquisition.

I cannot explain it, but it's one hell of a coincidence if that's all it is.

Hynes should remove Zucc from the PP game 1.  Hopefully that will send the message to SHOOT THE DANG PUCK!!!  Obviously Zucc is too talented to keep him off the PP for long but passing up on shots for turnovers seems to be his specialty lately.

Wide open look in the slot? Nah don't shoot it, throw it to a covered Kaprizov leading to a clear...

I'll add that the Sharks game is probably the best I've seen NoJo perfrom the past two seasons. I'm sure the coaches are even saying, "where the f#@ has that been!?"

I would have to guess that both of them being Swedish has something to do with it. Grew up playing in the same development system and that can create a sense of familiarity and make the game easier.
