Wild Vs. Flames

Had to hit the rack early on the game but watched the rest this AM and MN sucked until the middle of the 2nd when they started playing. Too many extra passes, shots that missed the net, AND Calgary played MN like NOrth American guys would play any team of Euros. Get in their face, give em chops, disrupt their finesse style, plug the middle, clutch and grab. Stir em up after the whistle.

MN had a chance to clinch and in the big games, where is NoJo???? Coughing up breakaways and playing with the urgency of a Manatee with a neck-beard.

Calgary has big fast players with good reach. They plugged passing lanes and skated with the Wild. They pretty much controlled the game and MN's PP again couldn't make it happen. You can see MN looking for Kaprizov and pretty plays. It's WAY TOO FRICK'n PREDICTABLE.

MN passes chances to shoot for the tic-tac-toe all the time.

Is it any secret Zuccy, Rossi, NoJo, Boldy, and Kaprizov like to force passes into perfect plays???

No, that's what you can expect from the Wild. #36 had many chances to shoot last night and did not. Boldy missed the net again and the Wild just don't generate much overall. Lengthy defenseman don't allow MN finesse forwards to have the space to execute those dipsy-doodles and pretty plays. MN just keeps it up though with that and it didn't work.

That was the Little Engine That Could Wild team last night.   Discouraging as we have all our big knockers in the lineup.  Calgary is monstrous but not super skilled.   A lot of Shore/Gaunce’s in that group.  Did anyone notice how ineffective Zuc/rossi/spurgy/vinnesota/nojo/nyqzy were playing against a team playing North America brand hockey?? Aka playoff hockey.
this group needs TWO legit top six players this offseason to become contenders (even if it means we part with Rossi)

The game started slow without goals and a feeling out process like a playoff game. Calgary had a game plan that worked.

Like when Evason was coach, MN kept going back to the same dry-well all game looking for pretty passes to connect for beauty goals. It was not working and they ended with zero pretty passing plays for goals.

Meanwhile the Flames got traffic in front of the MN net and scored some simple ones. Eventually MN got on the board with gutsy effort when coming from behind, but Nyquist's shot was on a broken play. Why MN never figures that out is dooftarded. That's on Hynes and the players who play perimeter-passing hockey and no net-front game or shoot first mentality. Out-shot last night too.

Look at the first two Flames goals last night.

Couldn't find more perfect examples of what Rossi, NoJo, 3rd-pairing deficiencies entail.

Rossi is ignored by big Backlund and he chips in an easy one. CGY is throwing pucks on goal, so good example of what to do from them and how NOT to defend by Rossi. Either a lack of deliberate effort to get the guy's stick or an expectation Gus swallows-up the shot. This sets an early tone for the hockey game with the Flames being rewarded for fundamental hockey.

The second goal, NoJo turns and gravitates to the puck-carrier and allows Sarangovich to go straight to the net alone while both Merrill and Bogo read the play poorly also allowing for the easy tip-in goal. NoJo later coughed it up to give Calgary a breakaway which resulted in a goal so that's why NoJo shouldn't get big props for having a 3-pt game once or twice in a season. Most of the time he's making bad decisions and a turnover machine who doesn't do jack against good teams.

MN had better not underestimate the Canucks tonight.

Get rid of Rossi. Trade him for the Leonard kid. Leonard would be a perfect fit in Hynes systems. In other news Landeskog is back.
