Article: Marcus Foligno Is On Top Of the World On the Top Line

Also wanted to add that if we do end up trading Spurgeon, my vote for the C is Foligno. He's big and physical sure, but the guy seems genuinely intelligent, has the respect of his teammates, and will MAKE other teams respect him. ODC I know you've been saying Kap should get it but I don't think he wants it (no proof whatsoever) and would be happy with an A.

Foligno is the guy to captain the team in Spurgeons absence.

Honestly don't think that any of the deals are terrible value. Even if people believe the contracts were 10% overpays, Guerin would have needed to overpay to bring in free agents. He's saved some money with great long-term contracts for the top players. Overall, the Wild have a team that's tough to play against when they are fully healthy--hopefully we see that again soon.

But, if we only sign 1, namely Foligno, what other better UFA could we have gotten for the top 6? We backfill with an ELC. I know the ELC guys haven't performed that well, but sometimes you just have to play them at coach them to get better. We could have done this with OgZ, or Yurov whom we could have afforded.

I read we don’t have the cap space to do it before the regular season ends.  They are working on bringing him over though.

I believe they can sign 1 guy, but that they prefer Buium because he gives them something the team doesn't have, he's healthy, and playing at a really high level. If Yurov had never gotten injured and accelerated his scoring down the stretch, maybe they would feel differently.

Yurov came back to compete in the playoffs earlier than he would have in the regular season. His ankle likely needs more work to get back to 100%, so it wouldn't be the best decision to rush him into NHL playoff hockey.

I fully expect Yurov to be signed in the summer and he would likely be with the MN Wild to start next season. He has a lot of talent and hockey IQ, but he didn't have a very healthy season, so hopefully he gets healthy, strong, and sharpens up his skills prior to heading into training camp with the Wild in the fall.

Was about to post how Vancouver could no longer catch us and they score 3 goals in the final minute against Dallas to tie the game and send it to overtime.  Dallas gave up 5 third period goals.  Crazy ending.

I don't have a good feeling about the last 4 games.

I thought I heard his contract in Russia hasn't been mutually agreed to be terminated yet anyways. Doesn't officially expire until 05/31.

He signed a three year entry level yesterday. Don't see why Yurov hasn't signed yet. This team needs all the offensive help they can get. Modano-Koivu-Walz forth line would work at this point lol.

That's the thing though, I don't think he technically can because he's still under contract with Metallurg. Demidov's contract was terminated before he signed his ELC.

Hopefully mnfaninnc can say 100%, he's more well versed in the technical side than I am.

Hmmmm, I'm not seeing a Johansson up here.

Nope.  I don't think he has earned a right to be on the ice.  Johansson has the skill and ability to be an impact player.  We see it a game here... a game there... but never consistent.  He consistently lacks effort and I believe him to be detrimental to the team.  He is easy to play against.

Moose is a really solid grinder. It’s great to see him on the top six, his play deserves it. I hope one day he gets the big C. Very clearly his presence adds a lot of energy to the bench, he’s a great leader and always shows up when needed.

As a charter member of the Foligno Hater's club, I will admit that his play this season has taught me to appreciate the need for a player who can fill his role.  Big (or small.  ie Domi), physical, mean spirited, smart enough not to be a penalty magnet, willing and able to fight (unlike Duhaime getting destroyed everytime).  This of our past Foligno type players: Chris Stewart, Boogard, Reeves, DLo, Brazzo, T-Bag.  Foligno is by far the cream of that crop.

Metallurg needs to terminate today. The Wild will look so different Game1 with Kaprizov, EK, Yurov in the top 6. Gives the bottom 6 some hope in round 1if NoJo went full-on tough euro mode, and Lightwinds started to light people up like the legendary bone crushing Big Buff.
