mnfaninnc Verified Member
I'm more in the column of get everyone healthy and roll the dice. With Buium now going to the Frozen 4, and him probably getting in 2 regular season games, I'm rethinking my commitment to playing him in the playoffs. What wouldn't burn an ELC year? Does he have 9 potential games? Yurov's team is up 2-0 today and looks like they may live to see another day. Contract Termination watch is pending. I suspect that we are looking at a maximum of 4 regular season games if they can get him signed immediately. Is that worth burning a year? I'm still thinking that 90 is the magic number for the Wild to get into the playoffs. This is especially true after Vancouver's goose egg last night. It may very well be that some other teams are running out of gas too. Perhaps we can head over to the corner and start filling the team up with some gas? Citizen Strife Verified Member
I think players like Rossi could use that game or two off if they get one. Despite scoring, he gave up some rough plays and is on fumes right now. Edited April 3 by Citizen Strife
Willy the poor boy Verified Member
Rossi is developing the habit of coming through in the clutch. More trend than mirage for me...

Rossi doesn't play Defensive he cost the team 2 against last night. He doesn't have the mean streak like a Theo Flurey, Martin St Louis, or a Marchand. He definitely plays to his size and he isn't all that fast. He's growing his game but damn he hasn't done much lately.

Did you see the guy throwing haymakers to Boldy's head/helmet last night? Boldy retaliated by by putting his gloves on the guys helmet and pushing. I think Rossi would have thrown down with the guy. Unfortunately, that being said I don't think Rossi will be here next year from what I've been hearing. Where there's smoke there's usually fire. BG better get some immediate value for him and an unprotected 1'st rounder. If he's traded my biggest worry would be not getting value back. I still don't trust in BG. Boldy is getting better in the FU department. He as really picked up his efforts lately in my eye anyways. He's almost ready to climb up to another level. Hope he plays with Kaprizov when Kap returns.

Minnesota Wild fans are generally not big fans of European players. But Rossi is clearly being criticized a lot more here. Of course, there are no two opinions here when it comes to the fact that his play has declined significantly since the 4Nations break. BUT: Hardly anyone here (or the fans) really thought Rossi would score 60 points this season. And that for a entry-level contract. Compared to the rest of the team, he's the only one (KK & EK excluded) playing ABOVE his salary. It's also clear that he's certainly not a 1C in general. Because of all the injuries - where is he supposed to play? His style is simple, extremely fast-thinking hockey. Accordingly, he needs players in his line who understand what he wants to do. That's why it worked so well at the start of the season. Everyone criticizes him all the time, even though he's never made any hype about himself. I don't understand why there's so much pressure on a young player who hasn't given any reason yet that he's not worth the money. In the end, I think Rossi can help any team in this league. Not as a 1C. But certainly someone who brings a lot of points to his team. So I would always give him a contract like that for 5x5M. Unless (and I'm very curious about your realistic suggestions) there are centers in this league available for 60 points a year for that kind of money. My question: On End of June he becomes RFA. So if the Wild don't sign him, he will get offers from other clubs. So how could the Wild trade him this summer?

When healthy, he is a great 200ft player, leads the team in expected +/-, is top 3-5 in every offensive category, 6th in defensive points share, 3rd in offensive points share and is only in his second full year. He is clearly hurting/ injured and is gutting it out because we have no one else left to do it. Listening to people complain about the two 23 year old's holding us in playoffs is like listening to someone on welfare cheering for the dismantling of social programs. Give your balls a tug.

Rossi still was outta position and cost the team 2 goals against. He has disappeared. Watch him against the Jets in round one.

I'm not sure what the contract should be, but I doubt he signs for 5 million based on what others have signed for recently. But, I'd sure take him at that. I'm guessing they either sign him or let the RFA process and arbitration play out. Guerin has kind of treated him like shit if you ask me. His name has been attached to trades for 2 seasons at least and he's a guy that will take instruction to heart. That's rare in todays professional sports world. That's rare in todays professional sports world. If you will remember when Rossi first got here he credited the Wild's medical staff with saving his life guiding him through his myocarditis event. He committed himself to this team 110% at that time. He stayed the summer here and put in all the blood sweat and tears required to taking himself to the next level. What does he get in return? The I'm available for trade sign hung on his neck by Billy. And for reasons I have yet to understand. I think the damage is done however. Not only is Rossi playing injured his morale and probably loyalty has taken a dive and who can blame him. Now Buium is the next shiny new toy. I hope he has better luck inside this organization than Rossi.
