Fans were justifiably booing their effort in the last 5 minutes of the game.

The prevailing attitude here seems to be that the Wild fan base will collapse if the team takes even a short-term step backward to build a team that can win a playoff series.

... and when the edit timer ran out I was trying to add that it would be surprising if a .500 home record and first-round playoff losses will be packing them in a year or two from now either.

The Wild will be in the playoffs despite their hapless, Kap-less 2nd half of the season.

They just won't be... y'know... IN the playoffs.

And when they lose in the first round, we'll be reminded of how lucky we are that we've seen so many Wild first round exits in the past 10 years.

Then someone will repost that list of a dozen or so teams that, unlike the Wild, have missed the playoffs for at least their past 2 seasons.

And nobody will note that all of them except Buffalo have won at least one playoff series more recently than the Wild, or that most of them have reached at least the conference finals in that span.

I understand all the points and counter points about the salary disadvantages the Wild are playing through, some of it self inflicted and some of it bad luck injuries,  we have 35 million dollars not being used for a long stretch that we will have next year  ,  i also dont think trading Knudi , Lauko  really made anything worse although Knudi was energetic .
