WheelSnipeCelly Verified Member
Love to hear that they've won 4 in a row. Definitely hoping that Khusnutdinov and Öhgren can add some firepower down in Iowa. It would be great to see some improvement from last year in any statistic for Iowa. Last season they finished tied for 30th place with 62 PTS (0.431 PCT), were 31st place in GF (184 G), and 30th in GA (245 G), and were -61 in goal differential. They're currently playing at a 59 PTS pace (0.407 PCT) this season, which is worse than last season, and are in 30th place (just like last season). They also already have 195 GA, which is on pace for 260 GA for the season (15 more/worse than last season), and still ranked 30th. Hoping for Wallstedt and Hlavaj to finish the season out strong and close above .900% (they're both sitting around .88%). Ending on a positive note, the one area of minor improvement looks to be in the goals department. They have 151 G so far this season (which is on pace for 201 goals or 17 more than last season), and has them ranked at 26th (5 ranking placements higher than last season). Enforceror Verified Member
I would think Khus will do very well and Ohgren has already proven it.
FredJohnson Verified Member
Hunter Haight is also on a tear, with six points and four goals in the last three games. The rookie forward now leads the team with 18 goals and is second behind Travis Boyd with 31. His play has brought a spark of enthusiasm to the team and lifted them. mnfaninnc Verified Member
I need to make a correction to the article: Quote Carson Lambos has also chipped in with 25 points. Lambos only has a meager 12 points on the season. But, he does have 25 PIMs. I don't believe that the baby Wild will make the playoffs, but more can happen in the A. Rockford is the Blackhawks affiliate, and if they sell heavy at the deadline, where we've already seen Jones and Hall go, then callups will likely weaken the Ice Hogs. This is exactly the type of thing that can derail an A team. I would also expect that after the season is up for Heidt, that he'll be playing in Iowa on a PTO. Prince George currently sits at 2nd in their division and 4th in the conference. I'd expect them to go 2 rounds in the playoffs, maybe 3. Interesting standings in the W. Medicine Hat is #1 in the Eastern Conference (Ryder Ritchie), and Calgary is #3 (Kalem Parker). Heidt's team is the lowest ranked, but in the Western Conference. WheelSnipeCelly Verified Member
Obviously no Khusnutdinov, but not a good showing from the baby Wild this weekend. Lost both games against Rockford and Milwaukee letting 4 goals against per and only scoring a goal in total for the weekend.
