Agree here. I think Nyquist acquisition is for top 6 placeholder while ogz gets put into larger package for a bigger fish.
if this ends up being Billy’s only move it’s just another Guerin overpay

I am not sure what Ohgy can get you....wasn't he sent back to AHL yet again? i think our biggest move caps out at Nelson and that's it. if we are lucky, Billy won't extend Nyquist and Nelson on the spot for 4 years (billy's special) at 5 and 7MM.

I have to believe nyqzy is not a rental but an NoJo upgrade.  Veteran who can play top 6 minutes at a fair price.

i can't see MJ not playing and he'll likely need to play both top 6 and pp time to have any use. 😞

Maybe I am reading too much into Khus and Ohgren getting sent down.  Less chance of an injury in case we put either Ek and/or Kap on LTIR for the year and those two are the trade pieces for Nelson?

You guys sure love complaining about the team like anything and everything they do is pointless and wrong cause GMs and coaches didn't do it to your absolute specific wants and needs.

I can't wait until July 1st.  Kap gets signed, and at least one of those guys lightens up a smidge...

to be fair, I tend to complain about complainers when they complain too much, but maybe that's just me.

I thinking this is to save on cap space.  I would think with getting Nyquist, they are probably right at the limit.  Right now the wild don't have any extras on the roster to scratch and when Ek and Kaprizov are ready they will need the cap room

Might be trying to do some cap magic, but that's just a guess from me.

i am completely against nelson, unless the cost is nothing but MJ and then we let Nelson walk after the season (even so - i don't even like that option).

there has to be a natural balance between chaos and order, positivity and negativity, optimism and pessimism (as you pointed out early - logic and emotion) 🙂 we need both extremes here!

Surprised it took a 2nd round pick, but I obviously was interested in adding Nyquist to replace Johansson's minutes. I thought Nyquist might have been available for a 3rd or 4th.

Also wanted him when I thought the Wild had only $300K in cap. If Eriksson Ek is out until the playoffs, that would have opened up a larger move. I'm still happy to add him, but it's a little underwhelming at this point for a 2nd round pick. On the other hand, picks after pick #50 don't make significant NHL contributions well over 50% of the time, so if he helps the Wild make the playoffs, they may not be giving up that much in the prospect. If the Wild make the playoffs, and have a competitive showing, it will be valuable for all of their young players and should bolster Guerin's ability to sign others.

It appears ODC has taken speech and debate in high school. Bravo!

I thought that too, but I didn’t think they needed it with Kap on LTIR, unless he is coming back

I suspect the price increase was due to the Preds paying half the cap hit. This kind of rings to me that maybe Kappy and Ekker just could be back before the end of the season so LTIR is not an option.

I think you're right. If it was a 3rd round pick, I'd think it was an incredible deal. For some reason, I was also thinking it was in the upcoming draft, but this is the draft following next season. I think the Wild could be even better next season, so that pick could be late 50s or even in the 60s if the Wild can have a healthy(70+ games) season from Kaprizov, Boldy, and JEE.

I can't believe I'm seeing "trade Boldy" comments. This wasn't the team to bring home the cup when the season started and it wasn't the team after a hot start. There hasn't been enough depth or talent to advance far into the playoffs. This team is still one line short. I'm happy with how the team started, disappointed lately, but not surprised they will once again be a bubble team.

There is absolutely no reason to not have much higher expectations when fall camp opens for the 25-26 season. BG better have some near top or top tier signings (including 97) this off season or his time as GM will not last much longer.

Boldy, Ek, Rossi and now even KK gets mentioned here and there😲.
