mnfaninnc Verified Member
Trent Frederic seems like overkill in that particular area. I think we can go with a much less expensive option like Vinnie to get done what Hartman does. We've got Trenin and Foligno. We've got give the kids an opportunity too. I'd rather not spend here unless it's an in for out in Hartman/Frederic. I do have to repeat the other thread, though, there is essentially no chance we pick up Larkin and a less than 0 chance we do it for the package suggested. To me, Guerin looks like a build from the back kind of guy, and that's what we have in our defense. In this system, the forwards appear to be the expendable part, so they're the last thing assembled.
Citizen Strife Verified Member
Giving up too much too soon isn't a smart play. If Kap or Ek are official LTIR and get the money...sure. Maybe it'll be worth it. Still a high price to pay when I'm still not convinced the team is worth investing in this year.
Pewterschmidt Verified Member
Frederic is the player we thought we were getting in the Russian Rag Ass. Sandpaper + heart + little to no offensive upside = difficult to play against. RRA is none of the above except no offensive upside. Guerin has wasted his discretionary $'s for this type of 'value' player and must unload the Yak on another GM or continue to flush his cap hit with nothing in return. Yes I'm still bitter about this acquisition.
SkolWild73 Verified Member
Yea, this article assumes a lot. First off, that we would get Larkin which I think the majority of us agree will not happen. So, let's look at it without getting Larkin. One thing the article misses is that we still have Vinnie signed through next year. Ten forwards signed, re-signing Rossi and Khus plus Yurov and we are already at 13 before Frederic. I suppose if we got rid of Trenin and added Frederic to the same money, it would be ok, but then who else can we go after? Someone is already sitting, barring injuries. I get the guy is big, but he is 27 and his best year was last year with 40 points. He is sitting at 8G and 7A so far this year. Unless he is just a replacement for Trenin and we plan on getting rid of someone else, I don't see it.
1Brotherbill Verified Member
I'm all for having multiple centers on any roster. Helps with a lot of things. However, with the lack of that position in Minnesota why would you put Rossi and Ek on one line and Marat and Stramel on the other line. Then have Freddie probably one of your better centers sit out games?
Mateo3xm Verified Member
Trent Fredrick would actually be a very good add. He can score goals, plays all forward positions, fight and is very tough. Boston is kind of a dumpster fire right now so the scoring hasn’t been there for him this year but I think he’d do a lot better on a more talented team. RedLake Verified Member
Fredrick Hartman and Kush would make a good third line.
