This team is going to be stuck in mediocrity forever. No vision at all. Faber, Boldy and Rossi are our chips on getting what this team needs. I guess MN fans are just fine being a playoff team. I am not one of them and want to go for a cup. Kap is not getting younger and we have a window for the next 3-4 years in Kaps prime if he stays. Our whole fan base overvalues our players. Look we just claimed a guy off waivers who is better than half our team and better than a $4mm a year player in Hartman who should never wear our jersey again. Think big. Watch Colorado they are t done making trades this year as they are going for it every year. Be a creative GM. We all get is just fine. Just because we don’t come on here and piss and moan about every thing the Wild have or have not done or talk about fantasy trades doesn’t mean we don’t get it or don’t care. Most of us look at it different. At least for me, complaining about everything isn’t going to change the make up of the team. If Kap walks, we will all still be Wild fans. Only he knows what he is going to do. for me, I would rather spend my time enjoying what this team is, 4th best start in history, a star player for now, a great young core and a great prospect class coming in. Complaining about everything and worrying about stuff out of our control isn’t going to change a damn thing. 2

(rossi, ek and harty.....yikes) making him limp out pretty much every year without anyone to deter these beating? nope no need to get him help, he is FINE with zuccy! can we get a bigger, more physical player to help him? nope, zuccy and rossi will be fine - the duo that surely puts fear in opponents! to let it play out like everything is going fine and just focus on development of Boldy, Faber, Rossi, Zeev, Yurov, Wally and many other prospects is delusional thinking. why would Kap stay? when was the last time someone written an article about KAPRIZOV? you think he doesn't read? all he sees is Boldy, Rossi and Faber praise. or their worth and projected money saving or comparison using fancy stats model to predict them being superstars.....wait don't we already have one? ah him - he is fine! If i'm him - i'm not seeing the buy in, trying to maximize his impact on his timeline, and that understanding of true worth. I've said it today already - but Colorado and Edmonton know exactly what they have in McKinnon and McDavid. I don't think MN does. I guess I can’t get you to understand mine and the majority of the posters here points of view on the situation. You, me or no one here has a clue what Billy is doing behind the scenes. You, me or anyone else here has any idea what Kap will do come July 1st. You think Kap is coming on Hockey Wilderness and reading these comments as says, damn, no one is taking about me I am leaving.? You can talk about my fancy stats projecting Boldy all you want. Tried to use it to try and get you and others to see something positive. Most of us will continue to look at all the positives about this team and enjoy it because nothing this team or Kap does is in our control. All we can do is hope that Kap sees this team for what it is. A team that is 12-7-1 without him this year. A team with a great young core already in the league and many more coming. Pissing and moaning about stuff we have no control over isn’t going to change it. 1

You are so blinded by your negativity that you can’t appreciate a team that has accomplished way more than anyone thought. I think they are 7th in the league in points percentage and that is with the injuries to many key players and over 1/3 of the season without their best. That is not mediocre.

It is possible and your opinion. If if does leave then it will be reality. Reality is this is what the team is now and we do not know or have any control of the future. 12-7-1 is a 102 point per 82 games. That is without Kap. Maybe with Kap it is 110? Panthers made the finals two years ago with what? Pretty sure less than 100. and yes we can discuss strategies on this forum. Kaprizov is our Gretzkiy. That is the reality. To even try to compare impact with and without is a crime. Doing so devalues Kaprizov. He was playing at unmatched level before he was hurt. Line him up with Ranty or Draisailt and he would reach production unseen in decades. But go ahead and see how many times lately his name been mentioned. How many times his needs were taken in consideration. He signed his 5 year contract (after being very firm in his negotiations). He wanted a winner. he wanted to see if this is a place. A place that is likely not his primary choice. So all had to line up. To say after 5 years of NO SUCCESS that everything is right is something.....but if expectation is PO and not SC, then we don't need Kap. We stink. They OWN us. on top of that they beat the crap out of our star. please tell me the positive here and i will join you. It is a positive viewpoint, because unless someone great magically becomes available by March 7th that is a true game changer and we are able to pull off a trade with no cap space, this is our team. So, I try and find as many positives as possible, and yes, many of them include stats, which for me, and I think some others, helps us see what might happen in the future, something to look forward to. The point of showing the record and points without Kap is to show we are playing at a playoff level without him. Showing that maybe we would be playing at a level to get to 110 with him puts us on another level that hey, guess what, maybe with some luck we can make a run this year. Yes, our record against those teams the last two years has been rough. But don't we all say playoff hockey is different and throw the regular season out the window? On a positive for that, less penalties in the playoffs, right? Good for us since our PK has stunk and our PP has been average at best. I think our 5 on 5 stats are actually pretty good, last I checked anyway. Look, I have no idea if we will get past the first round. I do know that this is a completely different team from when we played Dallas the last time in the playoffs. In that series we were an underdog, without home ice advantage and took them to 6 games. Our additions from that team, EK (only played like 13 seconds), Rossi, Khus, Bogo, Chisolm, Lauko, Vinnie, and Trenin (not sure if I am missing anyone else). On top of that, we have Boldy 2 years older who just played in the most competitive environment he has ever played in. I will include Faber, since he had played only two regular season games prior to that series. And lastly, there is no way Kap only has one point this time around. It isn't always easy to see the positives, but I look for them instead of the negatives because for me, it makes each season so much more enjoyable. And I get you have had a lot of years of frustration, but so have I. I am going to date myself a bit here, but the first North Star game I went to they had little green dinosaur dolls that everyone waved. If you get that reference you will know how long ago that was. I watched two Stanley Cup losses too. I lived through the Herschel Walker trade...yuck. I had season tickets for the Vikings in 98 and watched Anderson miss his one field goal against Atlanta to go to the Super Bowl (I watched breast reduction surgery on the learning channel instead of the Super Bowl that year because I was so bummed out). I have every reason to not see the positives. But staying positive will feel so much better for me when we do finally break through and win one because I will have enjoyed the entire ride, not just the final result. Hope that helps. But Boldy looked different to me, in a good way. Purely speculation, but if that hit that happened on Faber and Boldy came rushing in from the blue line to rough some guys up happens before 4 nations, I don’t think he reacts the same way. I hope it isnt a one time thing and picked that up from playing with the USA team and more specifically, the Tkachuk’s and becomes more aggressive. Wild record against Central top dogs - Jets - Wild have lost 8 in a row Stars - Wild are 4-7 against them since 2022 Avs - Wild are 4-8 against them since 2022 We can celebrate success during the regular season, but true measurement is after the season is over. We are not ready to face these teams the way we are currently constructed. Should we loose in R1, Kap won't sign off in July. Meaning the next year will likely be all speculations and likely will lead to another "fair" offer trade by Bill. I have said before that i think it's a MUST that we win at least R1 this year. For that - i do feel that we need to be aggressive starting this Trade Deadline. Majority seems to be in the corner that prefers waiting and keeping to what they have. To do that will lead directly to another beat down by one of the three Central teams. Which will then lead to Kap NOT signing off in July. And uncertainty begins. If I'm Bill - i am still trying my best to pry Tuch away. Unfortunately they have a good Goalie Prospect, otherwise i'd throw Wally at them. But i think addition of Tuch would be a huge boost and may push odds in our favor in a match up against Stars (current opponent in R1). Should we win - i do think that Kap is likely in. For us to trade for Tuch, there may need to be money retention from another team or Kap has to halt his recovery progress and go on season ending injury list.....then miraculously come back for PO! I prefer the first option for continuity sake to allow new teammates to jell. So get another team involved with Cap space and send out a prospect or a pick for their services. But that requires Buffalo to deal and look where they are - last place! hmm Would they have any interest in our prospects not named Zeev or Yurov? What if they say YES but we have to part with Yurov.....i guess i wouldn't immediately say NO to that. Tuch is at the same development curve as Kap and thus lines up much better on the timeline than Yurov and helps now. Perhaps that's the trade that is out there. That's what i'd do. That's a sign of things to come when PO time arrives. And it won't be baby Debrincat throwing hits, it will be Benn laying out our minis. So we need to be ready and not skate into these hits. Faber was surprised....like yeah that's what happens buddy! Would Boldy go after Benn? or does he only go after smaller players who are already in a 6 player scrum? wake me up when Boldy fights someone. Until then - he is still a figure skater. I throw last year out for the records. Different team this year. Still not good. 0-3 against Winnipeg 1-1 against stars on Avs so hope there. I am all for adding a player before the deadline if it is possible. If some names become available would love to discuss. Seems like every team wants Tuch but no report that he is actually available. If we can get a piece like that with prospects or picks and not give up Boldy, Rossi or Faber I am all for it. I read that Ranta may be available if he doesn’t sign the 14 mil/year contract he has been offered. Get the Canes to take half his salary and he only costs a little over 2 mil for the rest of they year.

Man, you are damn hard to please. From what I saw, Boldy was the first one there and was taken down by two Wings players.

Ranty available? you mean after this year? yes i do think we should be in on him and be ready to dish out 12-14MM. and that is my overall theme - be ready. don't just be content to wait out Brock Nelson. Vegas had the balls to break up a crew that was ahead of where Wild are now and go for it on both Stone and then Eichel. Florida gave up a 100 pt player for Tkachuk. That's what i am saying - if there is an opportunity, you cannot be afraid to act. If Senators call and ask for either Boldy or Faber - that is a deal. If Tuch for Yurov - that is a deal. I just don't think Bill is the creative thinker and planner - so we likely are stuck with Nelly.
mnhockeyfan03 Verified Member
In the next week or two they will say kaprisov will be out until the playoffs to give them more cap room at the deadline. Which is a great idea but don’t just use it on rentals that won’t be here in future. Absolutely no to Boeser and don’t give up more than a 4th for Nelson and only if he will resign for 3years under 4mm. Make a splash using Rossi, Faber and/or Boldy.

Rumor is if canes can’t sign him before the deadline, they will look to trade him. All other possibilities after the deadline we will see when we know who are available. Maybe Vegas can’t sign Eichel to an extension this summer and will look to get something back before the deadline. again, will love to talk about all that when we know certain players are available. Otherwise, we just don’t know what Billy is looking to do or what Kap will.
