Article: Wild Players Shine For Sweden In First 4 Nations Game

Recommended Posts

I wasn't terribly interested in watching the 4 Nations stuff, but my girlfriend wanted to watch it last night so we did.

After that first period, I thought it might be a blow-out for Canada, but I'm glad the Swedes tightened down the screws and made a game of it.

It was really weird seeing Ek wear 20.  I kept on seeing the player wearing 14 and wondered why Ek was playing defense.

Brodin was playing right side since he was paired up with Hedman.  I know Brodin has the better skating ability to make it work on his off side, but I feel like Brodin on the left could have canceled McDavid out more.  It might have been better to put Brodin on a different line if Hedman couldn't play right side.

Remember Ek used to wear #20 for Sweden when he was their captain in junior and they got silver. That was the year Kunin and Greenway won gold with the US team. At the time MN's prospect pool looked good too.
