Article: Danila Yurov Is Coming to America!

Recommended Posts

At 20, Marat had 63gp, 11/30/41p

At 20, Yurov had 62gp, 21/28/49

At 21, Yurov has (projected) 59gp, 15/18/33

I like Marat but I don't see him as dominate (yet) and possibly never.

I hope Yurov's game translates to immediate production but I'm definitely not sold yet. A lot of people are banking on him being a top 6 forward. I sure hope so but I'm also going to remain skeptical until we see him in a Wild uniform.

Sorry to be a gloomer on this topic, just don't want to put too many eggs in that basket.

His numbers this season are affected by an early season shoulder injury, and his team limiting his minutes because they want him to sign a contract.

His style of play is far more suited for the NHL. He is a strong two-way player with a powerful shot and an attitude to attack the net and maneuver the offensive zone better than Marat.

I can't find his minutes per game this year, but google AI seems to think he played 15:10 per game in 23-24. He definitely started slow with that shoulder injury and had another lull later on, which perhaps was related to contract tactics by his KHL team. He's had some multi-point games lately to help his points per game climb well above .5, which was great to see.

As I've noted before, I'm still very excited by him coming over and I find his team leading +13 to be indicative of strong 2-way play, which is what the scouting reports say as well. Nobody else on his team is above +9.

He might not be an immediate top 6, but coming from the KHL, he's likely more prepared for it than Ohgren was. Scouts seem to believe he's above average in all areas, and he could become a star player if he can avoid injury.
