The biggest problem is just plain zero money and roster flexibility.  Granlund would be a great comeback story, but man.  If people keep dropping, the retention route is the only option.  I don't know what teams would bite.

Personally, I think Tuch makes a bigger impact. I wouldn't go the blockbuster route like Kalisha presented, but I think you could get Tuch + another year for about the same price. And, you get the player 4 years younger.

nah. he is small and slow and brings very little physically. will be 33. salary wise he is the same as tuch. so might as well push in on tuch and just add a bit more spice to the deal and get it done; while keeping core of Zeev and Yurov here.

First question should be:  Is this team a contender this year?  I don't think so.  So why buy anything that only lasts through this year and requires you to trade a future away.  We are sellers.  Trade out Marcus and Freddy and get anything in return for future.  We will need those future assets for trades in 2026.  Ogren, Yurov and Zeev should enter the lineup for next season.  We should be a much better team next season and we can use those assets and extra cap space to trade for a higher quality player.

I just don't see us being sellers in the midst of a playoff chase. I don't see us being able to get around the money issue much either. 

Outside of a significant LTIR player, I just don't think we can help ourselves unless we're promoting from within.

We have played well this year.  Being this close to the top it is easy to say "Go for it".  But we can't afford much and we struggle with the top teams and still haven't fixed the PK.  I mention us as sellers simply because removing Nojo and Freddy won't hurt us and could actually make us better this year.  It also increases our chances next season when hopefully the coaches figure out how to be a bit more consistent on PK.  Add in Yurov, Ohgren, Zeev and a more experienced Jiricek and this team might look like more then just a contender... perhaps a favorite for the cup.

i've said it before, but i believe we have to be buyers and have to overcome the first round obstacle. there is no next year and no selling. this is our chance. next year brings its own what-ifs and unknowns and new fits and rookie struggles.....kaprizov has been patient and gave us plenty of time. to whimper out and say - nah we are not ready = won't sit well with him. he is playing on a superior level to all other players. in his mind, he will drag this team as high as he can. he just needs a dependable goalie - who we have. a dependable steady d - which i think we have once we suit all of them back up. and a top 6 that can protect him a bit more. give him that. give him tuch and see what he can do. you inject tuch and bring back the D core healthy - that will give us enough to challenge stars/avs.

Tuch is grossly overrated on this message board. In fact I doubt even the most diehard Buffalo or Vegas fans put as much value on Tuch as some do here. ..🙄

Perhaps so, however, name another guy with speed, size, puts up points, rhs shot and a $4.75m contract that carries over to next year. Add in he's 28. Even as much as I like Tkachuk, Tuch certainly brings more than half a Tkachuk to the table.

I’m not much of a stats guy but…. MG 5’10” 185 lb. Almost exactly a half a point/ playoff game guy. (-4) The crazy thing is he would be a pretty big upgrade for this team. That shows how many holes we presently have. I’m more inclined to wait until next year, see if any of the upcoming prospects stick,  and use the available assets to get a bigger, better, younger, more playoff proven player. We shouldn’t be doing 1 shot rentals right now. If the coaches really like him, and he wants to extend, that’s a little more tolerable. Also we just may need to allocate more $ at the goalie position than previously anticipated, including extending Gus (2026). We might even need a backup goalie. I guess we’ll see how JW finishes the season. The fact that this guy is predicting the Wild go after MG kinda shows how bare the trade line cupboards appear this year.

I'm more inclined for a more physical forechecking C to put between Foligno and Trenin.  Someone who wins face-offs and battles.  

Freddy is having a good year but he looks outmatched physically for that heavy line.
