Yotes4ever Verified Member
The Minnesota Frost (3-2-1-2) have been phenomenal once again this season, thanks to players like Claire Thompson, Grace Zumwinkle, and Kendall Coyne-Schofield, to name a few. But, after recent suspensions and injuries, the Frost continues to battle through in order to stay in the win column. The Thursday night tilt between the Boston Fleet ended in a 4-3 win for the Frost. However, Frost forward Britta Curl-Salemme was suspended with a dangerous hit on an opponent, causing her to miss Saturday's game against the Sirens. Saturday tilt became an upward battle for Frost as Grace Zumwinkle was out due to an injury sustained during the Boston game. To add to the list, Frost's goaltender was injured during warmups, causing emergency goalie Lucy Morgan to step in and play. On the plus side, Frost star Taylor Heise was back in the lineup after being out with an illness. Saturday's game against the New York Sirens was nothing short of difficult for the Frost. The Frost put up multiple grade-A scoring chances, but Siren's goaltender Corinne Schroeder stood on her head, making twenty-six saves, stopping the Frost from ending up on the score sheet. The Sirens scored two goals in the first as the first goal came from the first shot of the game after deflecting off a Sirens player and past Morgan. The Sirens continued to add to the scoresheet as they scored four more goals to end the game 5-0. Prior to Saturday's game, the Frost had never had less than two goals in a game, but after missing core players, they got shut out by the New York Sirens (3-1-1-2). Saturday marks the first time the Frost has been shut out all year. With lingering injuries and suspensions, the Minnesota Frost are still playing good hockey (minus Saturday's game) and are making goaltenders have to make tough saves, as we saw on Saturday. The Frost made the most of what they had on Saturday, considering they had two core players gone and an emergency goalie call. Head Coach Ken Klee said, "When it rains, it pours, I guess, but we just rolled with it," and he is right; the Frost made do with what they had, and although they were unable to get on the scoresheet, they proved that they can still hang with their competition and play a full 60 minutes. The Frost look to return to the win column on Wednesday against Hilary Knight and the Boston Fleet (2-0-1-4) at 6:30 pm.
