Article: Marc-Andre Fleury Gets Final Win Over Capitals

Canada losing on their home ice in their capital city-priceless. Somewhere in here, there is a Czechia Master Card commercial.

MAF I think asked for this game. And, he was ready to put on a show. A lot of times we place these players under the term "competitor" but sometimes we forget another important part in "entertainer." MAF hasn't forgotten that aspect, and neither has Ovechkin. While they're in the twilight of their hockey careers, their large personalities will really be missed in this game.

I still can't help but feel like we stole money out of the Caps wallet last night. It just seemed like we were short so many players and just gutted it out. I'm really hoping that the Boldy shootout winner helps him gain confidence. We need his scoring right now. He's been passed by Rossi on the scoresheet, and we need to take note of both this from Boldy's angle and Rossi's angle. Rossi has scored some really important goals for us this season, as has Boldy, but Rossi hasn't tried to dress up as the invisible man for a lengthy halloween season.

Boldy has hit the pipe a dozen times since November. His shot is coming around.

Agreed. I think he's trying to snipe some tough shots. As much as he's getting crap for "pretty moves" my eyes are telling me he's playing a more aggressive game. Boldy currently leads the team with 22 takeaways (36 giveaways). For comparison's sake, 2nd most is Faber with 14/53. KK is 9/50. Best ratio for these two stats is.......Devin Shore??? 6/8

The shootout winner was a wicked shot.

That 1-on-2 was almost one of the most amazing goals I've seen "live" and not on a highlight. When that red light when off I about jumped out of my recliner and then was confused because play kept going.

Has anyone been watching the WJCs?

How does our Finland contingent look?

How does Zeev look?

They had Buium listed at 186 on the scale, but looking at him, he looks a little larger than when we drafted him. I was hoping he'd be hitting the scales at 195 by now, but that seems like a longshot. At 19, he still has a lot of filling out to do naturally and hitting the weights might be a good thing.

If I were Faber, I'd be checking in with him. Faber can easily attest that he underestimated the strength needed in the N and had to gain strength over last summer (and likely again this summer). Why not learn the cheap lesson from Faber, and start doing it now?

It wasn't long ago that I criticized Heinzy for blowing the goaltending assignments. IMO, The Wall, not Fleury gave the Wild the best shot to win vs. Utah, and let Fleury have Winnipeg.

This time, Heinzy got it right. I believe that Fleury knows the East a little better, and the competitive and entertainer was the right guy to put up against Ovechkin and Co. Then send in Goose to face the top volume shooting team in the league. Heinzy should get some nice stick taps for these decisions. He gave Goose the right amount of time off, and kept him fresh.
