mnfaninnc Verified Member
Haight was noticeable to me in Charlotte too. I don't think he's getting moved up in the lineup because Gaunce is gone. Gaunce didn't play the game I saw (at least if he did it was not remarkable). I thought Bankier looked a little better, and he should, he's a year older. Haight had 2 main things I thought he needed: Strength and winning draws. He was a highlight watching the game. The fact that he's an RHS is a plus for what we need. I project him at wing when he makes his debut.
Imyourhuckleberry Verified Member
The stats suggest Liam Ohgren has been among the best players on the Iowa Wild, if not the best, and he seems to have a solid future in the NHL. What might be the reasons the MN Wild are not bringing him back???

What might be the reasons the MN Wild are not bringing him back??? This is very good news. The reason they’re keeping him there imo is so that he can have a solid run of success at that level (3months+) then bring him up for final ten games and hope he does more than tread water. That way he goes into offseason believing he’s an nhl’r vs the shit show that’s happening with wall-e’s development
Pewterschmidt Verified Member
In other wild positive news: i liked what i saw from Gaunce last night. Good size and good 4th liner compete.
Dango Verified Member
I think it was the assistant gm interview on KFAN with Russo said that the next time Liam is called up they want that to be for good ,no more Iowa .
Enforceror Verified Member
Ohgren's almost at a goal per game. Patience is key, tough but absolutely necessary. Im still high on Ohgren, I think he'll get there. 2nd line is his ultimate destination and within 2 years.

I think he can be a 2nd line player, but I see him as middle six on either line as he should be getting significant minutes when he's ready, and it sounds as though he will be solid on defense including the forecheck. He's likely already a better 2-way player than Johansson, and might not be far from the current 3rd line guys in skill, but perhaps not quite at their level in strength or defensive acumen. Foligno and Trenin are fairly elite in those traits, shutting down scoring from most opponents. Like Hartman when he's fully healthy, I think they'll eventually be able to put him on any line and get solid production. I understand they want him playing big minutes and developing, so I'm not upset by them keeping him in Iowa currently, but I'm not sure they are getting better results from the other guys they are pulling out of Iowa.
