Article: The 4 Nations Tournament Will Reveal Something About Guerin and Hynes

The 4 Nations Face Off doesn’t mean anything, and won’t show anything about Guerin or Hynes. It’s better than the all-star stuff, but so overhyped. I might be in the minority with my opinion. Seeing scrum interviews with reporters asking players about the tournament when they’re trying to win games is ridiculous. Can’t wait for this tournament and the talk around it to be done, so we can focus on the playoffs

I'm with Amaddeo, 4 nations sucks. I probably won't even watch. As few of the team that plays, the better. They should be resting. I'm truly hoping Brodin and Eriksson Ek bow out to "nurse" their injuries. The best part of the tournament from my standpoint is an extra long all star break for the guys not playing.

However, this can be used as a recruiting tool for Guerin, Hynes and maybe the players. There's not much you can say, but there is a way to act that attracts guys. My hope is that something good will come out of this for the Wild.

Brodin will be fully recovered by then and Ek should be close. Isn’t it close to two months away?

Tournaments based on nationality are ill-conceived, as some countries have enough talent for multiple rosters, while other countries can barely make one. USA / Russia / Canada could field two teams, while Sweden / Finland / Czech could each do one. A better system, is two create 8 teams based solely on talent, with 3 goalies, 8 defenseman, 5 centers and 10 forwards per team. Do a draft, and then make 8 teams. That would ensure quality, while ensuring different countries are still represented.

Top 24 goalies in the would, top 40 centers, top 80 forwards, top 64 defenseman and top 8 coaching staffs.

That would be quite the event.  Like all the stars of the league playing.  Oh wait...
