I'm a bit concerned about Brodin. Russo indicated that he was walking gingerly in the last few days from an upper-body injury, and they were planning to check if surgery might be necessary. Hopefully the injury is less significant than that, but it didn't sound like he might be returning in the near future.

Agreed.  That is concerning.  Brodin is easily our best D-man.  He can do it all.  Wish him the best and a quick return.

I assume the IR is retroactive?

This all makes a lot of sense. Brodin, limping off with an upper body injury could be a pinched nerve in his back, or something similar. The injury is upper body, but it makes you look like it's lower.

I'm guessing the other A guys got sent down? I'd like to see Ohgren start being more aggressive on the forecheck and against the boards, he has the strength. I've seen him get run into from behind, and the reaction is similar to when Greenway was pissed off. Ogzy didn't move and just looked at who annoyed him. I'd also like to see his stick catch up a little. At least he could stickhandle a bit.

The Wall is the thing that makes the most sense. These decisions get made in the cone of silence and we never hear anything. I'm betting that someone tweaked something on Saturday and this was why The Wall was scratched on Saturday afternoon. You have to read the actions, not the words. My guess here would be it's Fleury since Goose played that night, and didn't seem to be hampered. Charlotte has a major airport, so catching a flight to MSP would not have been a problem for The Wall had we needed him on Saturday, baby Wild's game started at 4pm eastern.

The tweak may have been something, or may be nothing, but I'll bet we see The Wall backing up Goose tonight.

There's a good lesson to all you kids out there. If you're a good player, try hard, and put team first, there's a chance you are going to get hurt. On the other hand, if you are like NoJo who can't handle a puck, lack effort, or any ability whatsoever, the opponent will not go near you for fear you might leave the ice.

Wild have had to navigate limited cap space, which makes it difficult to even afford Wallstedt. His recall to Minnesota on Tuesday was just a paper move in some salary-cap gymnastics before retroactively putting Mats Zuccarello on long-term injured reserve.

He didn’t make the trip to Minnesota. -- The Athletic, Russo

More from Russo --

As for defenseman Jonas Brodin, who also was placed on IR, the Wild are still waiting to see how he responds to cortisone injections with his upper-body injury. The hope is to avoid surgery.

Zuccarello, who was hurt Nov. 14, was cleared Tuesday to begin light activity.

And the hits just keep on coming...damn!

Now, the Wild stalwart center Joel Eriksson Ek will be out “weeks, not days,” according to a team source.

Eriksson Ek was injured in overtime Tuesday night when he was checked by the Vancouver Canucks’ Jake DeBrusk. Eriksson Ek’s right leg absorbed the collision before he landed awkwardly on the ice.

Ek out for weeks?  You gotta be kidding me.

Yeah that one stings, he's pretty much irreplaceable with all that he does being 1C on 1PP & 1PK and how good he is at them.

Going to be rough going while he's out, going to have to have to have some guys step up and hopefully keep banking wins. Hope he doesn't try and rush back too soon and can be close to 100% by the time the new year rolls around.
