M_Nels Verified Member
Any sources for him getting a start Tuesday? I'd say he was recalled more to get him around the coaching staff, other players and get some practice time with the Wild under his belt. I just don't see him supplanting anyone 3 days after being traded for.

I'm reading this is more about introducing him to the big club (practice, coaches, Ness (boy this guys stock is rising), facility, etc), than having him there to play with the big club

Jiri is waivers exempt so no issues there. 2

I don't think it makes any sense to throw Jiricek into the game when he doesn't have background on the structure and expectations of the coaching staff. In my mind, Jiricek won't play unless another defenseman comes up with an injury prior to Tuesday night's game against Vancouver. Bringing him in was an investment in the future, not someone they want on NHL ice right away. 4

That is straight from the article. Sure, but his site has jumped the gun on assumptions that didn't come to fruition before. Unless Russo or the Wild say it, I wouldn't buy into it. For example, HockeyWilderness congratulated a player for making the opening roster near the end of training camp, but that player started the season in Iowa. That player had only been retained on the roster through some of the later cut downs while another player was recovering from injury. 3

I'm with you, I haven't seen Russo even hint anything about him starting Tuesday so I don't see it happening.

Protec Verified Member
Guys, come on. I know they play NoJo 15 TOi average, but the Wild managers and coaches are too smart to put 20yo Jirizy in there ASAP. 😁

After going 9 games without a point, Johansson has looked somewhat adequate in portions of the last 9 games, tallying 6 points. I'm still not a fan, but he's a less annoying passenger when he at least collecting points for the team along the way.

Maybe Spurgy needs some more time off?
mnfaninnc Verified Member
I like the premise of him being up here to learn. However, when Spurgy went down earlier, we had very little warning. If Spurgy goes down, wouldn't Jiricek be the top of the line fill in? As for RHS defenders, Spacek is really the only other prospect on there. I guess you could use Crotty if you had to. To me Jiricek would be the top callup at this point despite his lack of smooth skating. You never know when Spurgy's going to need more maintenance!

I mean it's a little less satisfying than ragging on Nojo but it might fill the void until Nojo reverts back in a few games.

But why P-Kringle? 1) when bro accidentally gets the puck on his stick it's better than 50% chance he punts it to the other team 2) I've seen him fall backwards more than once this year. Arms windmilling, landing on his butt backwards. This is the NHL for f sake. 3) Staple this guy to our edge work whisperer (Ness) after every practice for an hour. He's too slow by 3-4 strides. 4) I have not seen him truck an opponent thru 24 games. 5) we've heard about his analytics, but honestly I'm not buying it. FredJohnson Verified Member
If he has a bad game, let's just chill and be patient with his development. If he has a superb showing, then the Wild just acquired the greatest defenseman of all time.
