Protec Verified Member
I think a lot of people saw the future value in that deal. We wanted to see Boldy take another step and other than his golf-Summer, he's done that. There's still playoffs and game-takeover qualities we wanna see but his start this year makes us forget about his amateur PGA to hockey season start last year. It sucks Ek keeps getting hurt and NoJo sucks. If Boldy was on the Wild's first or second line with better guys, 75-85 points wouldn't be a problem. What is the line next year was Rossi, Boldy, Yurov? Ek, Zuccy, Kaprizov. Hartman, Ogie, Foligno. Certainly looks like MN has a good track for the playoffs and assets to acquire a player at the deadline for sure. They have a lot of talent and potential to upgrade. Gus has been awesome again. It's the NoJo element holding Boldy back. That remains the biggest mystery. What they see making him a mainstay with Boldy.
Imyourhuckleberry Verified Member
Wow, they played Johansson 21 minutes to make things extra tough on Gus! 1

I really do not understand this love affair the wild have with Nojo. Maybe he knows where Guerin hid a body or something. There has been nothing about his game that has justified his 2nd line status this year at all, let alone a promotion after injuries.

Yup, typical NoJo stat-lines. Plenty of TOI, -1, and pretty much nothing else. One shot himself and driving play so hard Dallas out-shoots MN 2:1... Solid line-two'er. 🙄 1
Citizen Strife Verified Member
First Rossi, then Johansson. Who is Protec gonna go after when he gets traded?

Citizen Strife Verified Member
I mean, it would have amounted to, "8.5m to be injured, what a dope!"

A contract is a 2-way street and it's too bad some of the players take advantage and fail to live up to the contract. I don't think Matt Boldy is one of those types. He'll eventually get some linemates that'll fine tune his line, but he can play anywhere. He's prototype forward and I like watching him tear it up. NoGoJo is another story and he's not the only one.
mnfaninnc Verified Member
You can click me into the column that said it was too much too soon. I preferred a bridge deal through this year to get us through the heavy lifting of the penalties. Personally, I'm pretty conservative with contracts and capflation has thrown me for a loop. But, looking at the benefits of signing a young player 2 years ago, capflation hadn't quite hit yet. So, the value is tremendous at this time as the costs go up. I'm glad he's in the fold for a long time. Now we just need to get him some help.
Burnt Toast Verified Member
Nice thing is he’s 5 years from his 28th birthday. That’s when most players hit their prime. That makes me very happy.
