Even if the Wild aren't totally sold on him, sign him to a 2 year bridge deal to at least get some cost certainty.  Personally I'm sold on Rossi already so I feel they should offer him a 5-7 year deal right now.

you want to prove that he can be number 1 center? fine put him on foligno and trenin line for half a year and see what he can do with them....that's what number 1 center do - they can drag all above and beyond. let's see that.

otherwise we all know that lining up next to zuccy and kap can do wonders for that stat line (should we have extended hartzy for 8MM after his magical year with Kap, thankfully NO and Billy paid him right).

Rossi can be a passenger on first line for now - but he cannot be called a true number 1 center and not someone Kap needs as his center for future.

i'd wager if we put Marat on line 1 he'll produce as much as Rossi. Flip him and prove me wrong 🤔

Rossi might be holding off signing a deal and betting on himself (having a good/great season).

Do not pay him right now.  Anyone who plays with Kap will benefit from being on that line.  Let things play out.  I am not sold on him being the guy we need.  He could be a very valuable trade chip in a couple months.

I'm sold on him too. He's chippy, he goes into the corners, he fights for position in front of the net, has good vision...

 Rossi is developing nicely before our eyes, but anything higher than a Perfetti bridge deal would be foolish.  If Rossi was 5’11”+ and BG liked him he’d already have an 8x8 with NMC.  

this one will be fun to watch.  I predict Rossi says “you know where you can stick that bridge Bill” and forces a trade where he gets overpaid for his results with 97.  Every body wins if Guerin gets a net positive return in the trade

we wanted someone that doesn't ride a coattail of Kaprizov. we are getting that now. just like we had with Hartzy before him and Marat could do just as well. Do you want to pay premium $ for that?

But won't Marat be getting the same benefit as Rossi? And won't Marat want to get paid for that? I'm pretty certain I would want Rossi on the team before Marat. Nothing against Marat.

But, at any rate I disagree. I'm not sure if Rossi is or will be a #1 center yet or not, I just know he's a guy 32 GM's (or at least 31) would want on their team.

Rossi had as many 5-on-5 goals as Brock Boeser and Matt Boldy last year, it doesn't surprise me in the least that he's been productive this year.

that be a good thing then. marat is still on entry level and if we know we can plug him into whatever role we have planned for rossi then that'll save cost. we can re-allocate the $ to a better option than giving it to rossi (as we have the exact same rossi 2.0 making league min in marat). not seeing marat getting that chance, so that's a fantasy.

as to other 31 teams - i am not saying rossi is not someone i'd want on the team, but he may not be what THIS team needs. we need a bigger number 1 center with zuccy being tied to kap. that's a reality. kap is just a bigger priority than rossi for me and it has to be for the team. sure drive up his value with playing him next to zuccy and kap and then start a bidding war and ship him out for someone who can better fit with kap.

I just don't see the point in getting rid of a guy so you don't have to pay him. The Wild have been looking for centers since their inception and now folks want to get rid of a good one so they don't have to pay him.

For years now I have watched players benefit from playing with Ek.  However, Ek had a couple of years where he wasn't raising the level of play of those around him.  Will Rossi do the same?  If we don't know (and we don't) then we shouldn't start tossing money out the door.

things change. we have a superstar on our team and his name is not rossi. that is who should be made a number 1 priority.

Well, if Rossi gets offer sheeted at 4.6 to 6.8 million we would get a first and a third for him.  Above 6.8 and somewhere around 9 million would be a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and a 4th.  I think Rossi has the same potential as Fiala and he is a center.  

I think a fair way to look at the "anybody looks good with Kaprisov," arguments would be to look at Kaprisov's stats while playing with Rossi vs others.  

Also, Rossi doesn't play on the 1st power play unit to bump his stats.  

I'm in the pay him now side, but leveraging his restricted free agent status can also work.
