Article: Wild Name Training Camp Roster

Recommended Posts

It probably won't be made public, but to me the most intriguing part of training camp, at least early on, will be the measurements phase. I don't know why teams hide this so much, but I'd like to see the progression here from the kids. For instance, after hearing that Rossi came in stronger than last year, I'm not going to be happy with a 5'9" 190 measurement.

Same thing can be said of Ohgren, Bankier, Dino, Lauko, Trenin, Faber, Chisholm, Lambos, Spacek, Masters, Peart and even Brodin.

Simply put, the measurements mostly will show what the athletes did this summer. The height might actually show a late growth spurt too. I really don't see what the big secret is. It's not like wrestling where guys are listed at 6'10" 400, and you can clearly see this is not so.

According to Hynes Boldy has added muscle this year also.

Will his official measurements change? Doubtful.

For instance, I am pretty sure that Ek is playing somewhere around 215-220, not 207 as listed.

These were the lines on day 1. Not pleased.

Kirill Kaprizov - Ryan Hartman - Mats Zuccarello

Marcus Johansson - Joel Eriksson Ek - Matt Boldy

Marcus Foligno - Marco Rossi - Yakov Trenin

Jakub Lauko - Marat Khusnutdinov - Freddy Gaudreau

Liam Ohgren - Brendan Gaunce - Reese Johnson

NoJo getting some kind of neck-beard benefit as a top-sixer. That's dooftarded. Rossi doesn't need two crash and bang guys. Where's the scoring winger to play with he and Trenin? I don't mind the return to L1 Hartman, Kaprizov and the Norwegian Hobbit. But L2 and L3 are not sweet. Ogie, Rossi, Trenin, would be more my preference and Ek, with Boldy, and anyone other than NoJo would be better.

Obviously, it's early but I'm not gonna be able to handle another year of NoJoisms...

Last years lineup became a one line team and makes us easy to beat.  I think that’s why that first line is reunited, to get more out of zuc and Hartman.  Podcasts were saying yesterday it makes sense to start NoJo on L2, because it’s safer for Ogz ego to promote him later than start him L2 and then demote him later. Prediction: NoJo has a pulse in contract year
Rossi: maybe he’s able to capitalize on all the loose puck turnovers created by the Malachi Crunch brothers.  Hymzy said he really liked that combo after 1 day.  Would like to see MaRat put that line on his back and make that a viable minute munching shut down line

Sound reasoning. Excuse my NoJo skepticism, it’s nearly Fall. Duck season around the corner, time to bring in the dock, and winterize the boat. That means no more water-skiing and a little bit of urgency Marcus. That’s how it’s done in MN.

It's funny how confidence in a coach can go almost straight to zero after one day of training camp.

WTF Heinz?  Your time isn't long in this league if you think repeated mistakes will magically work out this time.

There is one successful thing that Heinz did last season and that was KK-Ek-Boldy.

I see the need to create another scoring line and that may require breaking up last year's best line. My hope is that Hynzy is demonstrating to BG in the preseason that NoJo is a NoGo.

I see the need as well, but falling back to what has failed in the past isn't really the way to go.  We all know what the definition of insanity is.

I hope you are right that this ridiculous lineup is a demonstration.
