If Rossi was not someone they envisioned in their future why did they freaking draft him?  Is he not delivering on what they are asking of him?  He had a really good year. Trading him is stupid.

Best available player mentality we've guessed. At that time had Rossi not fallen so far, the Wild would have took Lundell perhaps which would have been the right move because we were coming off koivu's career and needed a big body center. So that's pretty much what happened there. I never liked it really. We've waited 4 years to get a full NHL season while Lundell and Jarvis are going to round two of the playoffs with their teams.

This team is set for the youngsters to come up. They do NOT have the cap space to sign big name vets. We gotta let the prospects play and stupidity would dictate trying to overpay for a big name vet. Who you'd you go after and what could you actually get?

This is stupid and exactly how they end up in the same cycle of being stuck in the middle.

Rossi looks like an early eek, if that is the case, giving up on him is stupid.

The Wild would have enough cap space to sign ~ 7M worth of player/s if Rossi was traded. You could look at the UFA list I posted and find a bunch of defense or forward upgrades. (Cap increase + Goligoski AAV + Rossi AAV = ~7M.) Tell Florida it's stupid after they overpaid for Tkachuk and went immediately to the Cup finals. If MN waits and banks on all of their prospects, we'll be waiting a long time while Kaprizov is winning a Cup in FL with Bobrovsky.

Just sayin, there's E.Lindholm, J. Roslovic, Tarasenko, DeBrusk, Tofolli, Guentzel, C. Stephenson, J. Marchesseault, Bertuzzi, DuClair, and many more cheaper forwards who would help the Wild and who all bring something big to the table. The Wild drafted Ek in 2015 so even if Rossi was twice as good as Ek and more productive we've already waited 4 years. In 2-3 more years Rossi might be like a 60-70pt guy but still 5'8" and forced to battle guys like Chandler Stephenson who's already won a Cup and tips the scales at 6' 210 from Saskatoon. I didn't even mention the defenseman MN would be able to target. Brady Skjei or Brandon Montour for example.

At least 8 NHL teams agree with me, I would have passed on a small Euro player and taken a bigger center built for NHL hockey who had already competed successfully against Men as a 17yo or a NA player like Jarvis or Mercer. Now even Lapiere is scoring playoff goals with Washington and MN is agonizing over Rossi.

Except in your best case scenario you aren't trading for tachuck or paladin or any of that.

I am not saying i am trading for Panarin, but i am saying we should try to get in on Tkachuk. This is the philosophy of MN sports when we are saying its not going to work ahead of time, so why even try. Maybe try one time and see. You may fail, but trying is allowed, right?

You need to re evaluate your expectations than figure reality and proceed accordingly.

My expectations is that the team MUST do whats best for the team going forward. And the reality is, the status quo will NOT ensure Kap stays. If Rossi stays, that means we are moving in the same trajectory. Kap will leave then, I assure you.

This team is set for the youngsters to come up. They do NOT have the cap space to sign big name vets. We gotta let the prospects play and stupidity would dictate trying to overpay for a big name vet. Who you'd you go after and what could you actually get?

Which prospect is going to come up and play next year where Kap is going to say - Wow this player is awesome, you know what - i will sign off and stay here for live. Is it Beckman? Is it Walker? is it 18 year old Heidt? Is it Kustudinov (3/4 line player? Oh wait its Rossi!! Or are you suggesting we don't need Kap and Heidt and Rossi are going to drive winning? 🤔

This is stupid and exactly how they end up in the same cycle of being stuck in the middle.

Not sure how stupid my thought process is - ensuring your best player in the history of the club is allowed to lead the club and you put that same club in the same position to succeed as your top player. When you take all the factors in - you have to adjust the plan. Rossi and your draftees do not fit the current needs/timeline. You package them for a proven scorer. It can be someone other Tkachuk. There are ways to get it done without reverting to same tropes - trading with the team you know (pens) just for old time sake.

Rossi looks like an early eek, if that is the case, giving up on him is stupid.

Another comment pointing to stupidity.....Rossi is not Ek. I am sorry if you and anyone else feels that. We are from different realities.

Not sure I would put Ogie in that group just yet.

While making the list I moved people around quite a bit.  It isn't easy categorizing players, especially players like Ohgren that we haven't seen much of.  At least he a player that is likely to get better and move up.

Rossi trade talk IS stupid if it's 1 for 1 small change stuff. If he was part of a package to get a high quality player with intangibles then it could be worth it.

This sentence makes it possible for me to understand a Rossi trade this offseason.  And the bigger picture of trading Rossi is to put together a MN wild package of assets that returns an offensive forward with size that can give confidence to 97 that the org is on a path to win in playoffs sooner rather than later.  If a Rossi trade package is to go get a 1st pairing D-man then I will begin the Guerin Must Go chant.

Guenther is the type of player we do not have. He would be inexpensive immediately. He is an RHS. He has a lethal shot. He can play in Ovechkin's office on PP1.

However, he is taller than Rossi but lighter. Is he faster? I don't know. Can he put on weight in my gym? Probably. But, he's a long way from 210 lbs. Does he have a Beckman's mentality? He's just as tall but lighter. And, he's not overly physical.

I like the try here, but I'm not thinking we need a 1 for 1 type of deal. I think Rossi needs to get package with more to get us a better player.

I liked what Tony wrote, and at least for next year the contract would be good. But, is the kid a leader or passenger? Does he depend on another driver of play? He does depend on someone else digging pucks out, he's not that guy. I think this means he likely disappears in the playoffs. I'm thinking we need a little more complete player, but he ticks off a lot of boxes.

Who's this Old Dutch Chip guy? I'm liking his posts and I've only seen 4/5. Welcome to the site...unless you're like Protec and offended someone and had to change your name. Then, welcome back.

Pick a Wild team with Rossi or with Kaprizov

It will not be with both

Once you decided, you’ll know what needs to be done and why

Vegas did not win by holding on to Tuch when there was a chance to upgrade

florida did not hesitate to send out 100pt player for Tkachuk

Rossi is neither Tuch nor is he a future 100 pt player, if we can package him and another prize for a stud like tkachuk, we do it immediately

Tkachuk isn’t going anywhere. There’s way too many dreamers that think this is realistic. It ain’t happening, no sense in even entertaining it.

Looks like Calgary sites are getting in on the "will the Wild trade Rossi" madness now.  Suggestions included Coronato or Honzek and maybe 29th as a start.

https://thehockeywriters.com/flames-trade-target-wild-marco-rossi/

Still kinda meh on it all though.  Not sure either play is worth giving Rossi up.  Funny enough, commentors to the article were like, "You want to give up a bigger prospect for a small guy?  That's not what they need right now."

Gee, guess other teams' fans aren't stupid either.

Trading Rossi for an unknown form of "future potential" is a dumb GM move.  We are working within the confines of a window of opportunity which can't wait for a pick or a big question mark type of player.  Rossi was that question mark last season and pretty much made us all look like a bunch of clowns by doubting him.

Why introduce another question mark when it is time to start solidifying the cup run vision?  I think Rossi should be a part of that vision and his value is only going to increase IMO.

If we want size we will have to pay for a finished version of it, ready to kick some ass in 25-26.  Brady Tkachuk is a great example of what we are looking for but I don't think he is for sale.
