Will D. Ness Verified Member
I think Bogo has earned it. He has been playing great for us and we need size and RHD. One year deal would have been better, but the guy deserves it.
Citizen Strife Verified Member
Much like the forward crop, they must not be seeing a ton out of Lambos or Hunt to trust them. If nothing else, Bogo is a better option than Merrill and Goligoski. Maybe the plan is to use him to get us past that horrid mess of depth and hope the new D grows up enough to take his place.
Pewterschmidt Verified Member
Don't mind this signing one bit. Physically big, alpha type in our locker room. The polar opposite of Addison in every sense. Does this make Midzy deadline trade bait?

I think you nailed it. Looking at the point totals, I don’t see much from anyone down in the AHL. I mean if you compare them to Chisholm’s AHL production, they’re not even close and Chisholm clearly still has some learning to do in the NHL as well. Definitely no Brock Faber. I think the fact Bogo’s on a two year deal means they’re going for a defenseman in the draft, if they can. It helps stagger with Merrill but also that’s about the timeline I’d expect anyone we draft to take before getting a crack at our blue line. Idk that there’s any Brodins coming out who can play in the NHL immediately.

He’ll be very valuable once the dead cap is gone, either as a solid 2nd pair or an elite 3rd pairing blue liner.
Citizen Strife Verified Member
Middleton won't be moved unless his new price tag is a bit much (over $4m)
Tony Abbott Administrator
Zach Bogosian is one of the 25 worst defensemen of the cap era, and while his 47 games have been shockingly decent, we're doing Jon Merrill all over again. 4

I love some midzy, but he’s a depreciating asset and he’ll be 33 when dead cap he’ll ends. At some point a couple of our can’t miss D prospects will earn a spot. But pewter Bogo is 33. Bogo was also 3rd overall pick in his draft
Quebec1648 Verified Member
While the latest deal to an aging veteran may not work out, I have not seen any reports of the deal including a no movement clause. Therefore, if Bogosian doesn`t produce, it should be easy to move on. The salary cap will be going up in future seasons, so 1.25 million a year is tolerable, if we waive him and other teams may even take him via trade as a throw in. Hopefully, Bogosian is just a place holder until the Wild draft a quality defenseman. Guerin also reportedly waived Luchinni and Vinni, so that removes two guys as well. Perhaps this was done to accommodate Shaw and MK.

greg Verified Member
Yawn, yawn and yawn. Not a bad thing not necessarily a good thing. It's just another move that doesn't help the team. Not a big deal. 2

Dean Verified Member
Bill spends money like a drunken sailor. So he got more than a 600 thousand raise from his last 3 year 850$ per year contract. Only bill would give that contract. I like bogs but for the right price and term. It just shows Bill hasn’t learned anything about contracts and what other teams pay for things . No way he can manage the cap of a true Stanley cup contender. This isn’t that big of a deal . However the thought process and being unaware of the value of things that’s very concerning! I’m afraid to hear what else is coming.
Dean Verified Member
I was wrong. I thought they signed him at 1.5. 1.25 is palatable.

I thought we just had the exact same thing with Mr. Gologavski. Every player in the draft should pray that Wild would not draft him, otherwise he will be waiting for the rest of his ELC before starting the NHL career

Well this is what we have: Spurgen - 34 (on decline, undersized) Bogo - 34 Brodin - 30 Middleton - 28 Merrill- 32 And absolutely no chance for improvement at least one more year. So add couple of years to these guys, and tell me why Kaprisov would want to re-sign with Minnesota (unless he really likes our lakes). and he would not sign why Yurov would want to rush to get here. And in addition how can we claim that Guerin at least good with selecting talent if for the 5 years of him being here the only his guys who is playing is Rossi
