Protec Verified Member
Chisolm is certainly nice to have with the Wild. MN can get at least something over on Winnipeg this year.
Citizen Strife Verified Member
It's what Logan Stanley gets for injuring Kaprizov. A lot of Jets fans were pissed Chisholm (and others) were passed over to keep Stanley. Karma in the Wild's favor for once. mnfaninnc Verified Member
I have been impressed with how Chisholm has played the last 3 games. He's added speed, offense to the 3rd pairing, and when Bogosian got hurt, he didn't look out of place next to Brodin in the top 4. My next question is how close to Chisholm is Hunt? I would suspect that Hunt is ready for a 3rd pairing, but there is a logjam for a roster spot. Truthfully, with Chisholm's small sample size, that should let the front office be comfortable in case they lose Merrill to a waivers claim. A simple trade of roster spots of Chisholm for Merrill seems like a win for the Wild. I have no idea what to do about Goligoski. At this point he seems like that stuff you stick in a dark corner like the brooms and mops and only go to get when desperately needed. I have to wonder if he simply is even with the team this road trip? Do you forget about him and leave him in a hotel room? What is so obvious, and this should be a lesson with signing 35+ players and giving them NMCs, his game got thrown off a cliff. It wasn't bad luck, it was age which is undefeated. That is really my sole complaint of Zuccarello's deal. I could handle a 1 year deal. Same thing with Fleury but it worked out. It is also pretty obvious that Goligoski can no longer keep up. He keeps wandering deep into the offensive zone with no ability to backtrack. He's caught out of position numerous times, and it simply looks like he doesn't care about getting back either. Wanting him to waive his NMC would be a good thing, but what team is going to take him unless their happy sticking him up in the break room with the sign saying "break in case of emergency." If he retires, I believe we're on the hook for his salary the rest of the season. But, we've got some money to play with, and it might be best for him to retire or have his contract terminated. The roster opening would be the most appealing thing. Yet, if we wait until March 9th, we could have expanded rosters and get Hunt here that way too. Terminating Goligoski's contract would be a bit embarrassing for Guerin, even though he should have manned up and told Goligoski "it was time" in September. It could have saved us $2m + a roster spot. 1

Tank successful? A 2nd rd pick is basically the value of tanking in our position. Is Chisholm is worth a 2nd? Just from a couple games, I think he might be. Addison was a 2nd rd pick FWIW.

Great way to look at it. We get a free 2nd round pick for being so bad. Whoo!!

He was a placeholder until someone in Iowa was actually ready (it might have been Dewar). People accuse Guerin of being asleep at the wheel, but this shows he's got his eyes and scouts tuned in.
