Article: Wilderness Walk: 'Something Has To Change'

Something's got to change. I'm certainly on coaching change watch right now as that's the last thing GMBG has got in his bag to try and rattle this team into reality.

The thing after that will be the painful conversation of a player having to waive his designation.

The Athletic had an article just released on the hot seat of Evason. I got through about 4 paragraphs of introduction before the red pay wall appeared.

Note to the Moderators:

I realize this may be a side job for most of the writers, yet I am wondering about the rules. In the past couple of months, the Wild/hockey has crossed into politics or at least culture wars, and Tony has written 2 pieces expressing his opinion on the matter. Yet, both times, and perhaps wisely, he has blocked the comments section so his opinion appears to be the final word on the topic with no discussion at all.

While I completely disagreed with his take on the 1st article, on the 2nd he has a pretty valid viewpoint. This is a hockey site, and it is not often when these things intersect. You could say it is political, or you could say it is news/culture.

However, we have very little direction as commenters on what to do with such pieces. Last time a warning was issued not to "highjack" another article to respond to one that was closed. Yet, you've really left us no choice but to do something like that when the comments section is closed.

Since this is an opinion and not factual, and perhaps it is the opinion of the whole site and that's why it's up there, what are we as commenters supposed to do in such cases? We have no rules/guidelines/suggestions of how to respond, even if we think such an opinion were preposterous. We try to stay in our lane and keep to discussing Wild/hockey/sports, but this doesn't seem to be the same with the writers, or maybe more specifically Tony since he wrote both articles.

It would seem from a commenter's perspective that we all have differing opinions on things, but a little unfair that we would have to shut up on the matter. It also is terrible when trying to discuss things and name calling and cutting people down personally can sometimes be the way the conversation heads. But, since the merger, we really don't have direction on what we may or may not do? On a bad day, and let's be honest, we all have them, this can be very frustrating.

Most of us come to the site to get away from all that stuff that we get inundated with throughout the days and weeks. If we want to whine and complain, maybe we just take that out on coaching or the player in our doghouse. We generally don't want to move away from that.

However, this was Wild and the mask was all over the news. I'm sure someone would bring it up. Now what?

I'd also like to point out that we lost Vonlonster the 1st time who was a very active commenter and season ticket holder. It would seem to me that this would not be in the best interest of the site. I would hate for us to lose another one, or someone get blocked due to it.

I agree with mnfanninnc.  I come to this site to talk hockey, not politics.  I enjoy reading the opinions of others and seeing how my thoughts on the team compare to others.  I like keeping things positive and constructive towards other people on the boards.   I'm not a fan of keyboard warriors.

Let the NHL do what it does and ignore the political posturing.  I have no interest in expressing my political beliefs here.  It would ruin my love for hockey.

The country is very divided and posting political articles will alienate half the population and limit the ability to grow HockeyWilderness.com.   To the Writers I would ask that you do your best to avoid such topics.  If you find that you must post an article with political implications you need to allow all voices to be heard by leaving comments open.  Set a list of guidelines for commenters to follow and hopefully maintain civility.  Issue warnings to those that do not follow the guidelines.

Where is our article on this? I believe it will be an interim coach for awhile, maybe until season's end.

I did not have Hynes on my radar. But, Sully is still a Pen.

Woods gone too makes sense, he was in charge of the defense, and I thought he was in charge of the PK.
