I wonder if Fred's ailment came from that Reaves hit? Hopefully it's not too serious and that may have been what's been affecting his play.

Next man up, Wild gotta find a way to keep pace even with the injuries. Glad(?) Spurgeon was able to be retroactively added, still 4 games out but freed up some room.

Don't know much about Jujhar except that he is big and 29 years old.  Hopefully he can fit in and use his size.    The LTIR on Spurgeon makes sense.  He would be out until at least Nov 2nd anyways.  If he isn't trending to play by then you might as well take the extra 2 days and put him on LTIR to aid with CAP.

I am a bit surprised Beckman didn't get called instead.  But then with how things are likely to play out with injuries this year we could end up calling up quite a few different players throughout the year.  Everyone will need to contribute.

I think it's a tryout by fire. They have seen Beckman in the past and sorta know what he's capable of would be my guess. I wonder what they do with the lines tonight? I wouldn't think they'd use Khaira as a plug-n-play for Freddy on the 3rd, granted I don't know much about his game. Does Vinni get moved there? Or Duhaime possibly?

I am not that surprised. I think to replace Freddy's place on the roster, Evason wanted to go big. Beckman just isn't that big. I'm thinking Duhaime may get elevated and Khiara goes to the 4th line.

I thought I'd check in on the kids.

Not much movement since the last time around, especially in Russia.

  1. Riley Heidt continues to be scorching hot- 10 gp, 7-13-20.
  2. Hunter Haight- 8 gp, 5-6-11
  3. Jake Lucchini, who is this guy? 5 gp, 3-4-7. He's in Des Moines.
  4. The Wall pitched a shutout last night. 1-0 Baby Wild.

Anyone with eyes on the Baby Wild who can opine on how they played last night?

Khaira passed through waivers on October 5, which means he can get sent back to the AHL prior to Nov 4 without having to pass through waivers again.

Beckman is still waivers exempt, therefore he won't have to pass through waivers ever this season to shuttle up and down I35.

Due to waiver status, the wild have the ability to take a longer look at Khaira without the risk of having to put him through once they get healthy.  I'd be more surprised if Khaira is still on the big club roster after Nov 4...but that would mean he's playing like a stud so I guess I'd be OK with it.  If everyone's healthy they could fit him under the cap unlike Beckman who'd have to be sent back down regardless (assuming everyone got well)

Khaira had some good preseason games. If he's chipping in goals at the pace he did already, I'd think they like his size in the lineup. His goals came in front of the net but his reach and size was part of that.

I'd like to see one of these guys come in and do what Shaw did last year, securing a solid spot.

I think Vinnie fits in better on Rossi's line. If Boldy comes back on the road trip, who do they send back down? Are there rules to determine which guy goes down or can they make the choice?

Technically I don't they would be forced to choose until Spurgeon comes back too since he's on LTIR (unless Boldy's activation would exceed the roster limit).  If it's prior to Nov. 4 and he's not making a case to stay up in the NHL, Khaira would probably be sent down like MrCheatachu mentioned.

You are correct, the wild only have Spurgeon and Goose on LTIR, Boldy never went to IR so they are at 23 players with Khaira, Hunt, Mermis and Lettieri on the roster.

When Spurgeon comes back, they will need to send someone down both to open the roster space and the LTIR space going down to just under $2M, so you cant afford all four of those players.

Lettieri, Mermis, Khaira cleared waivers on Oct 5, so they don't have to clear to get sent back to the AHL if it's done before Nov 4.

Hunt is waivers exempt so he can be shuttled back and forth at any time, however, if the Wild reactivate both Spurgeon and Goose, they cannot fit Hunt in the cap.  Fun fact: Daemon Hunt ($828k) makes more money than Calen Addison ($825k) granted, Addison is on a 1-way contract.

I didn't see Heidt's 17-year old teammate on a couple of 1st round NHL draft lists I checked, but Terik Parascak has 15 goals in 12 games, and 10 assists. I'm wondering if he'll end up in the 1st round, but perhaps his hot start will fade.

I did find the dailyfaceoff.com commenting about his hot start, "Scouts are worried about Parascak’s reliance on his teammates to produce, but he’s finishing at an exceptional rate. That can’t be ignored."
